Chapter 1: From Antminer Losses to GPU Wins
How My Real Garage Inspired the First Level of Our Crypto Mining Game
I actually started off by buying Antminer D3 units from Bitmain, thinking I’d make back my investment in just 10 days. All the online calculators at the time said these $2,500 machines would rake in around ~$6,000 a month, so I spent nearly all my early Bitcoin profits on them. The catch? They took three months to arrive.
(Thats the profit which was calcualted for 2 miner to make 3 months before they were shipped.)

While I waited, I scrambled to find a tiny garage to rent somewhere with enough electrical capacity so I wouldn’t have to upgrade the entire power grid for that building. Because this garage was in an apartment complex, I had to build a noise shield and set up a proper cooling system. Essentially, I paid double: once for the miners, and once more for all the infrastructure.
When the Antminers finally showed up, I plugged them in only to realize everyone else had gotten theirs at the same time so the profits tanked. That was my brutal introduction to how fast the mining landscape can shift.

Desperate to recoup my losses, I pivoted to GPU mining with AMD Vega 56 and Vega 64 cards. That gamble paid off nicely on Ethereum, and it went so well that I teamed up with my brother to bring in investors. Together, we replicated the same rig setup multiple times, eventually scaling up to a full-on mining farm.

But those ups and downs did more than just teach me lessons in real-world mining, they brought the idea for my crypto mining game. In fact, the very first level puts you in a makeshift virtual garage, facing the same noise issues, limited space, and unpredictable profit margins just like I did in real life. It brings the taste of mining closer to you without risking going bankrupt.
